The Sevier County Democratic Party is made up of your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. We believe health care is a right, diversity is a strength, and the economy should work for everyone.

The Sevier County Democratic Party announces their Reorganization Convention 2025! Saturday, April 12th at the King Family Library, Burchfield Room, 408 High Street, Sevierville. Registration will begin at 1:00PM, the doors will close at 2:00PM. The convention will begin when everyone in line at that time has been registered.

We need new committee members and volunteers to keep the momentum going. New people bring renewed energy, ideas, skills and viewpoints! Some of us have been involved for a few months, some a few years, and some a decade or more. It’s nice to have social media like Facebook or Instagram to blow off steam, but the real work is done at meetings and events. Come out and get involved!

The Executive Committee is made up of Sevier County residents, registered to vote in Sevier County, who believe in the ideals, principles, and values of the Democratic Party. All bona fide Democrats present can participate and vote in Reorganization and may become part of the Executive Committee. You can run and/or vote for the following: Chair, Vice Chair(s), Secretary, Treasurer and two Executive Committee Members for each of our 11 county commission districts. Please make sure your voter registration is current and has the correct address. You can check and/or update it at: https://tnmap.tn.gov/voterlookup/.

WHAT IS CONGRESSIONAL RECESS AND WHY DOES IT MATTER?Congressional recess isn’t a vacation—it’s a critical part of the legislative calendar when Members of Congress (MoCs) return to their home districts to meet with constituents. Officially called a District Work Period for the House of Representatives and a State Work Period for the Senate, these weeks exist to ensure that MoCs remain accountable to the people they represent (insert joke here — go ahead).Recess is when Members of Congress go back home to host town halls, meet with constituents, and try to paint themselves as responsive to the people who elected them. It is also when MoCs think they can avoid public scrutiny—especially Republicans who want to dodge tough questions about their complicity in Trump and Musk’s coup. House Republicans use this time to meet with lobbyists and donors while hoping their constituents stay silent. 📢House Democrats, meanwhile, need to hear from us to remind them that they have power—and that we expect them to use it to fight back. The Senate remains in session during this recess, meaning the fight in the House is where we apply the most pressure. ... See MoreSee Less
