ANOTHER VIEWPOINT
We the Progressive Democrats of Sevier County perceive that the local and national instruments of governance have been
usurped by the forces of Capitalistic greed and false heartedness. Open discourse about public policies
in public places has been replaced by secret and duplicitous governments.
The Republican Party has stolen our Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, and has substituted oligarchy for democracy in all of our government institutions, including local governments.
Extreme secrecy and hidden processes have replaced the open deliberation of public policies and adjudication of class differences. Our vaunted
Middle-Class is no more. We have all sold out to our fear of the future, and have given away our freedoms to a President who believes that talking tough is the only requirement of the Office of President.
We have become afraid as a matter of national policy! And just as every fear is at bottom the fear of death, we have sold our childrens' birthrights to the forces of rapacity, greed, and power gluttony.
Our country now has about 0.43% of the world's population, yet it consumes 17-20% of the world's power. Though we are less than .5% of the world in numbers, one out of about 170 countries, we greedily seek more dominance of natural and financial resources. We are trying despotically to secure the wealth of the future because we are afraid of the present.
And no one in any government is now trying to get us back to being a country of confidence, self-belief, psychological security and hope.
Our goal is to elect NEW GOVERNMENTS to replace the sacred and secret bureaucrats we have somehow mistakenly elected. To that end we need to recapture and strengthen the Democratic Party, local and national, and we need to speak out on public policy every day. Our small group will be a shining beacon of speaking Truth to Power, for this is the only way in which we can be heard.
