OUR OPINION ON A CURE FOR TENNCARE

I am signing this petition to express my concern for our TENNCARE program in Tennessee, and I support this group's endeavors to make suggestions for solutions to some of the problems.

1- See that all people not qualified for regular insurance because of health reasons be covered by TENNCARE at some rate

2- TENNCARE needs only to apply to Tennessee residents

3- Have a supervised, state-wide TennCare computer system on which is always recorded doctors visited, medicines prescribed and number of visits for each patient, to avoid duplications in medicine and number of visits regarding each medical problem

4- Make night and day phone lines and internet more available and use of them also necessary before initial visit

5- Emergency rooms and walk-in clinics be limited to emergencies only, not minor complaints, possibly using a hot line center where people with medical problems initially could call and describe illness to a nurse and let nurse advise them as to if, where and timing for an initial visit, thus eliminating many emergency room visits, as regular doctors' visits cost much less, unless they are deemed necessary

6- Promote more availability of doctors receiving TennCare patients by increasing their pay and TENNCARE promptly paying doctors' charges. This should provide more access to specialists when a referral is needed.

7- Investigate possibility of temporary help from the lottery fund

WE URGE YOU TO STAND UP FOR OUR DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN AND ADULTS AND SAVE TENNCARE
