CINDY SHEEHAN

Cindy Sheehan Exposed the Real George Bush

By: JIM ANDERSON September, 2005

Cindy Sheehan has exposed bare the real George Bush--a distant man in an expensive suit behind a smirking mask.  Hurricane Katrina blew off the last fig leaf.

The truth is out.  Knee-deep in tragedy and death, from Iraq to New Orleans, Bush swoops in to hug victims and give pep talks.  He acts dangerously out-of-touch with earthbound reality.

But the nasty truth is seeping, under the door and in through the roof, like the oozing smelly cesspool flooding Canal Street: Bush's whole administration is unfeeling, arrogant, and--worst!--incompetent.

Americans ask: When and how will Bush end the War in Iraq?  Why was the Government's response to Hurricane Katrina so slow and inept? And Cindy Sheehan asks: “What 'noble cause' did my son die for in Iraq?”

The dirty tricks against Sheehan all failed.  “Attack the messenger” was old-hat and lame.  And what a goofy, brain-dead spin: to say anyone who asks the right question is “playing politics”!

Bush should meet again with Cindy Sheehan.  Why not?--he's had time.  On his five-week vacation, Bush cut brush on his 1,600 acre “ranch,” rode his bike for 17 miles with Lance Armstrong, and took daily naps after reading Elmore Leonard novels.

George W. Bush--the President who doesn't think he's ever made a mistake--expects to operate free of all criticism.  He's no Abe Lincoln.

Lincoln had fierce critics, too, during the Civil War, like fiery Anna Dickinson, who charged Lincoln's emancipation policy was too slow and tame.  When she converged on the White House in 1864, Lincoln invited her inside for a friendly, face-to-face debate.

So, Lincoln would likely meet with Cindy Sheehan--twice.  He treated enemies and critics with humility, sincerity, and compassion.  Of course, Abe Lincoln was no George W. Bush, either.  Lincoln was a great President.
